Axean Pacific, Inc. has been working in the healthcare industry since its inception. Its projects include distributed computing infrastructure projects, clinical information systems development, and projects and program oversight for Medicare Risk and HIPAA initiatives, as well as, security and quality assurance and application testing. Our experience with clients such as Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, and State of Hawaii/Department of Health position us well to lead and participate in large-scale or specific healthcare initiatives. Below is an overview of current and past projects:
• Clinical Systems Infrastructure. Design, deployment and support of a
clinical systems infrastructure that supported a national systems
deployment encompassing over 30 environments using UNIX, Windows
and mainframe platforms. Services included PMO, architecture,
technology design, and release management services.
• Clinical Information System/Electronic Charting System - A 3-tier
client server application with an interface engine, convergent medical
terminology database, regional-to-national CMT (Convergent Medical
Terminology) translations, and PKI. API supported the roll-out of 30
environments.
• Clinical Application Utilities - API was instrumental in developing tools
to manage data across the middle tier and backend database. The data
consists of 500+ million records within a DB2 database, various global
AIX queues across a large IBM RS/6000 SP complex, and scanned images
of 2 terabytes collected per year. HIPAA security requirements were
met by a PKI Certificate Authority solution.
• Clinical Information System Clinical Content - This project addresses
the HIPAA unique identifier requirements to provide an integrated
solution for en enterprise-wide source for all medical terminology.
• Clinical Systems Data Reconciliation Utility - API developed the data
conversion routines for 26 major healthcare ancillaries, a Convergent
Medical Terminology (CMT) database of 400,000 objects and a clinical
content dataset of almost 500 million records so that the native data
structures will be converted to XML.
• Quality Assurance and Testing - API participated in the testing and
QA of an enterprise-wide clinical and hospital systems deployment
utilizing structured testing methods, bug tracking tools and test case
management systems simulating complex workflow and interface
environments.
• National HIPAA Initiative - API led the IT initiative for a division of a
large healthcare provider, ensuring regular communication of HIPAA
requirements, inventory and assessment of current environments, and
timely HIPAA compliance.
• Medicare Risk - API personnel worked closely with the health care
operations team and clinical application managers to ensure Medicare
Risk compliance.
• Family Health Services - The goal of this project is to develop a
centralized web-based database application for the input, collection,
tracking, and reporting of early intervention services. The production
database contains approximately 5 millions records, has over 300 tables,
and has scripted data conversion routines from 9 separate databases
at multiple locations.
• Regional Distributed Computing Upgrade - API was responsible for the
analysis, design and modeling, and application integration for an
organization wide deployment of Windows and Exchange. Approximately
4,000 workstations and 30 servers were involved.
• Enterprise-Wide Distributed Computing Upgrade -Utilization of both
Windows and clustering technology in deployment of approximately
45,000 workstations and 300 servers.
